Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to compare the health-related lifestyle parameters of physical activity, sedentary behavior, health literacy, sleep, nutrition, depression and anxiety levels among migraine, vestibular migraine (VM) patients and healthy individuals. Thirty migraine patients, 21 VM patients and 33 healthy subjects were participated in the study. Headache severity of migraine patients and dizziness severity of VM patients were evaluated with the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Disability associated with headache and the effect of headache on life were evaluated with the Migraine Disability Assessment Score (MIDAS). Participants' physical activity level was examined with International Physical Activity Questionnaire - Short Form (IPAQ-SF), time spent on sedentary behavior with Sedentary Behavior Questionnaire (SBQ), health literacy level with eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS), sleep quality with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), daytime sleepiness with Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), anxiety and depression levels with Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). There was no significant difference between the three groups in terms of physical activity, sedentary behavior and e-health literacy levels (p>0.05). Sleep, anxiety and depression outcomes of migraine patients were found to be significantly worse than healthy individuals (p<0.05). Complaints caused by migraine trigger foods were found to be associated with disability scores in both migraine and VM patients (p<0.05). In conclusion, while the three groups are similar to each other in terms of physical activity, sedentary behavior and e-health literacy that determine healthy lifestyle, sleep, anxiety and depression levels of migraine patients are worse than healthy individuals. In terms of nutritional factors, migraine trigger foods negatively affect disease disability in both migraine and VM patients. Considering health-related lifestyle features may contribute to the development of migraine and VM-specific treatment strategies. Key Words: migraine, vestibular migraine, health-related lifestyle, sleep, diet
