Abstract (EN)
In today's competitive brand landscape, physical spaces are increasingly utilized as platforms for immersive storytelling and identity expression. This thesis examines the role of visual communication design in shaping branded environments, with a focus on Espressolab Roastery as a case study. Anchored in brand experience theory and narrative paradigm, the research explores how spatial and visual elements work together to construct a coherent and emotionally resonant brand narrative. Employing a qualitative methodology, the study draws from semi-structured interviews with professionals and loyal visitors to analyze the space's visual hierarchy, material choices, graphic elements, and atmospheric qualities. The findings demonstrate that Espressolab effectively leverages visual communication to embody its brand values of transparency, adaptability, and craftsmanship. Key visual elements — including signage, typography, spatial layout, and seasonal decor — contribute to an immersive brand experience that is both memorable and emotionally engaging. While praised for its aesthetic coherence and interactive features, the space also presents challenges related to sensory overload and fragmented messaging. These tensions highlight the importance of intentional visual storytelling in maintaining brand clarity across multi-functional environments. This study contributes to the field of visual communication by emphasizing the narrative power of design in physical contexts and offers insight into how branding strategies can be visually articulated through space.
