Abstract (EN)
The rapidly changing conditions of today's business world necessitate a constantly evolving understanding of leadership. Instead of traditional leadership approaches, the need for more innovative and visionary leadership models is increasingly growing. Leadership, defined as the process of effectively guiding individuals or groups to achieve specific goals, is not only a management tool but also a process that creates emotional, social, and motivational impacts on employees. In this context, it becomes crucial for leaders not only to manage the current situation but also to act by creating a vision for the future, which has a positive impact on employees. Visionary leadership, a type of leadership that has recently gained importance, is defined as the ability of a leader to foresee the future of the organization, communicate effectively, and motivate their team towards the set goals. This leadership style is critically important for strategic innovation, sustainable growth, and change management in the uncertainty-filled modern business world. The concept of "quiet quitting," on the other hand, refers to a situation where employees psychologically disengage from their work, performing only the minimum tasks defined in their job descriptions. This phenomenon creates significant challenges in terms of employee engagement, motivation, and organizational performance. This study aims to examine the effects of visionary leadership on the modern phenomenon of "quiet quitting." Numerous studies in the literature suggest that visionary leaders have a positive impact on employees and play a critical role in maintaining motivation. In the first section of the study, the concept of leadership is examined in all its dimensions, and a detailed literature review on visionary leadership is presented. In the second section, the historical development of the concept of quiet quitting is discussed, and the causes of quiet quitting are explained. The study employs a quantitative research methodology. The Quiet Quitting Scale and Visionary Leadership Scale were used as measurement tools, and necessary permissions for their usage were obtained. A survey was conducted with 306 academic and administrative staff members at Bursa Technical University via Google Forms. The analysis revealed a strong relationship between visionary leadership and quiet quitting. In this context, it is believed that the findings of the thesis can help shape the daily practices and policy-making processes of university administrators.
