Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Web-2.0-supported tele-nursing counseling on comfort, perceived social support, and acute complications in hemodialysis patients. The study was designed as a randomized controlled trial. The sample consisted of 64 patients (intervention, n:32; control, n:32) from the dialysis unit of Reşadiye State Hospital in Reşadiye district, Tokat province. The study was conducted between 06/02/2025 and 30/08/2025. The research data were collected using a 'Personal Information Form', 'Hemodialysis Comfort Scale Version II', 'Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale', and 'Acute Complications Form.' The study was conducted outside of hemodialysis session hours, with fourteen counseling sessions. Each patient received informative text messages regarding the specified content every week for three months. Data analysis involved the use of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, the Independent Sample T-test, and the Chi-square Test. Python and SPSS 25.0 Software were used for the analysis of the research data. The mean age of the individuals in the intervention group participating in the study was 59.94±16.44. It was determined that 71.9% of the individuals were male and 81.2% were married. The mean final test score for the physical subscale of the Hemodialysis Comfort Scale Version-II among individuals receiving hemodialysis treatment was 17.22±2.05 in the intervention group and 16.78±2.28 in the control group, showing a significant increase (p<0.05). The mean total final test score of the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale was 58.19±10.56 in the intervention group and 50.34±12.45 in the control group, showing a significant increase (p<0.05), with significance present in all subscales. No significant change was detected in the mean scores of the scales used in the control group (p>0.05). After counseling, significant reductions were observed in cramps (p=0.001), nausea-vomiting (p=0.022), headache (p=0.011), and hypotension (p=0.001) complications. The study suggests that Web-2.0-supported tele-nursing counselling is an effective method for strengthening individuals' levels of social support and reducing the frequency of acute complications.
