Wireless communications offer usersand organizations many benefits like flexibility and portability,increased productivity and lower installation cost. But because oftransmission media and weaknesses in wireless protocols there are manysecurity risks and threat. Some of these risks are like wired networkssome are exacerbated by wireless connectivity.The architecture of a network defines the protocols and componentsnecessary to satisfy application requirements. Like wired network theseven-layer Open System Interconnect (OSI) is the model forrepresenting the various standards and interoperability of a wirelessnetwork.The main goal of this thesis is to consider WLAN security and differenttype of WLAN security protocols produced for deploying in differentlayers and their weaknesses against security threats.
