An application on the investigation of burnout levels of generation X and Y health workers

The process of reform and innovation in the health sector in recent years in Turkey seem to affect the quality of services in the health sector and hospitals density. The increase in the density of hospitals increased the work intensity and work performance of the health sector employees. In addition to the difficulties of living in big cities, social life activities and work intensity affect the motivation, work performances and desire of the health workers who perform a social profession positively or negatively. With this research, it is aimed to determine the factors affecting the performance of health workers in the X and Y generations, and to obtain the findings to increase the performance and quality of life of the employees. This interaction occurs differently in each generation. In this context, the burnout levels of X and Y generation health workers will be examined. The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting the burnout of health workers in Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital and to determine the effect levels of these factors. In this context, in the first part of the study, the literature was scanned and the concepts of burnout and generations were explained. Then, domestic foreign researches about generations and burnout were examined. In the second part of the research, the method and the materials of the research were put forward. In the research, relational screening model was used in quantitative research methodology. The study was carried out in the sample of Atatürk Training and Research Hospital in Ankara. As a result of the research, it is seen that there is no significant difference between burnout dimensions according to X and Y generations (age). The perceptions of the research participants about burnout were similar. However, it was found that there was a significant difference between the emotional dimension of the burnout and the gender of the participants, the unit of study, working year, working hours and income. There was also a significant difference in the relationship between working hours and personal accomplishment. Key Words: Health employee, Generation, Burnout
