Abstract (EN)

Anxiety Scale for Social Media Users (Alkış, Kadirhan and Sat, 2017) were used as data collection tools in the study. Pearson product-moment correlation was calculated for inter-scale correlation. In cases where scale scores were normally distributed, one-way ANOVA was used to look at differences between groups.. A positive and significant relationship was found between social media addiction and social anxiety. A positive, significant relationship was found between social media addiction and social anxiety for each generation. There were positive and statistically significant relationships among the sub-scales of social media addiction and social media anxiety in all generations. A significant difference was found between the generations in the relationship between social media addiction and social anxiety tendency. When we look at how the generations differ from each other, a significant difference was found between generations in the social media addiction scale; Generation Z's social media addiction score was higher than Generation Y's, and Generation Y's social media addiction score was higher than Generation X's. In the Social Anxiety Scale, although there appears to be a significant difference between the docial anxiety tendencies of the generations, this difference was very small, as a result the generations did not differ from each other in terms of their social anxiety in pairwise comparisons.
