Özet (EN)

The Treaty of the Dardanelles (The Kale-i Sultani Treaty), signed on January 5 1809, reorganized the relations between the Ottoman Empire and Britain. After 1806, the relations between the two countries became distorted in 1807. Although not officially declerad war to Britain by Ottoman Empire, had cut off diplomatic and economic relation between the two countries. Firstly was offered peace to Ottoman Empire by Britain in 1807 for bringing relations between the two countries to the former level but could not achieve success due to the penetration of France in İstanbul. Neverthless, the French-Russian alliance in Europe led to the reconciliation of the Sublime Porte with Britain again and then The Treaty of the Dardanelles, consisting of twelve open and four hidden items, was signed. Through this treaty, Britain was acquainted with the commercial rights of the Ottoman lands while recognizing the principle of the Bosphorus closure. This phase of the treaty formation, which is a key point in many events to Ottoman Empire affecting commercial, military, political and diplomatic fronts in the 19th century, will be tried to be analyzed in diplomatic, military and political aspects.
