In the middle of XIX century the socia - economic and demographic situation of İznik: According to the temettuat and population registers

Our study which is entitled "In The Middle Of XIX Century The Socia-Economic And Demographic Situation Of Iznik (According To The Temettuat And Population Registers)" is based on population registers numbered with 586, 1452, 1514, 1453, 1454 in Prime Minister's Ottoman Archives dated 1832, 1844 and 1849 and Temettuat registers in Iznik district dated 1844-1845 in Revenue Accountant Department numbered with 8314, 8294, 16119, 8309, 8290, 8290A and 8290B. In this study, names, nicknames, forms used on that time and professions were studied by getting population registers dated 1832, 1844, 1845 and 1849 which shows the people who lived in Green Mosque Neighbourhood, Eşrefzade Neighbourhood, Mahmud Çelebi Neighbourhood, Beğler Neighbourhood and Reaya Neighbourhood in Iznik Centre. In addition to this, we attempted to assess the socio economic and demographic structure of Iznic district between 1844-1845 in the light of temerruat registers. By this way, the population of the town, lands, animal species and numbers, family and personal names and nicknames used in the region, the professions of people and yearly incomes of these professions, products grown in the village, the taxes paid to the state have been identified and the numerical results have been shown as graphs and tables. In our study, the neighbourhoods that were located in the centre of Iznik have been considered. Thus, we have tried to determine the socio-economic, cultural, Demographic features of Iznik. We have appreciated the arrangements in the financial and economic field starting with Tanzimat declaration in the criterion of Iznik.
