The Ottoman Empire, which had a multinational structure, divided the people into groups only according to the religions they belonged to, without making any ethnic group or nationality discrimination, and ensured that the non-Muslim people, who made up almost half of the population, lived in an order until the state lost its existence without losing their identity and forcing them to become Muslims. Non-Muslims either had an autonomous structure in the Ottoman Empire and lived under the law of their religious institutions or leaders in all legal situations, or they created a degree of freedom for themselves by living under the legal system of the Ottoman people. In this study, the situation of the non-Muslim people living under the Ottoman Empire between the 16th and 18th centuries has been tried to be discussed within the framework of Islamic Law.
