Abstract (EN)
In this study which is subjected of the 16th century Ottoman Architecture kündekâri (Joining technique) mahfil ceilings, it was aimed to unearth these ceilings because they are infrequent ceilings constructed by this technique. Examined mahfil ceilings has characteristics of "Joined Kundekâri" which is under the title of "Imitation Kundekâri", so that the technique of kündekâri was placed extensively and this art was introduced in this thesis. This thesis was studiesd by means of my advisor Professor Dr. Candan Nemlioğlu's studies and findings. The scope of the existing information in the thesis was expanded and the research was deepened. As far as it can be determined in this study, the mahfil ceilings made by joined kündekâri technique are constructed in Istanbul-Eminönü Rüstem Pasha, İstanbul-Kadırga Sokullu Pasha, İstanbul-Üsküdar Atik Valide Sultan and Manisa Muradiye Mosque. Rüstem Pasha and Atik Valide Sultan Mosque have two mahfil ceilings, totally six mahfil ceillings exist. In this study, the comparative evaluation of the mahfil ceilings mentioned in the context of wooden art in Turkish-Islamic art was made. The findings and recommendations of the research were discussed. This study is also a source of data for future studies. Key words: 16th Century, Mahfil Ceilings, Kundekâri
