Researching the effect of writing to learn in foreign language teaching to the students academic achievements, self efficacy and attitude

In this study, it was tried to determine while foreign language teaching whether writing to learn activities which is writing to letter is statistically significant on 10th class students' English language academic achievements, self efficacy and attitude. This study has got quantitative and qualitative designs, in the quantitative part of the study quasi experimental model is used. The data were colected through multiple choice test "Simple Past Tense Achievement Test", "Self-efficacy scale for English" and " The Attitudes towards English Language". In the qualitative part of the research, interview questions were asked for the experimental group. As a result, in the last test, after the writing to learn activity was applied in the experimental group, it is seen that the achievement of the students increased in favor of the experimental group and significant difference is observed but there is no significant difference about self-efficacy and attitudes scales between both experimental and control group students. In addition, according to data obtained from the interview questions, it is concluded that writing to learn is an effective and qualified technique.Keywords: Writing to learn, writing a letter, English.
