Vocabulary learning strategies utilized by Bosnian students who

Vocabulary learning strategies are the basis of learning a foreign language. People can tell a few things with a basic knowledge of grammar, but without vocabulary, they cannot say anything. This resarch focuses on determining which vocabulary learning strategies Bosnian students use while learning Turkish. The research consists of students who study Turkish in the 2020-2021 academic year. 210 students participated in the online survey. The questionnaire used in the research consists of 25 questions compiled from Oxford (1990) and Schmitt (1997). SPSS 21 program was used for the analysis of the obtained data. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive, Kruskal Wallis-H and Mann Whitney-U tests. As a result of the research, while the most used strategy by Bosnian students who learn Turkish as a foreign language was Social Strategies, the strategy they used least was cognitive strategies. Significant differences were found in the use of social strategies according to the ages of the participants. There was no semantic difference in the strategies used according to the educational status, gender and Turkish level of the students.
