Cultural transfer in teaching Turkish as a foreign language textbooks: I'm Learning Turkish set (A1-A2 level)

In this research, "I'm Learning Turkish Set (A1 and A2 Level)", which is one of the textbooks prepared for teaching Turkish as a foreign languageby Yunus Emre In stitute, was examined in terms of cultural transfer. The fact that Turkish is being taught more and more in the global dimension has led to the emergence of debates about the diversity and quality of resources. Text boks prepared according to the level used by learners and in structors as main material in the course environmentare one of the most important tools that increase the quality of education. Forthispurpose, the characteristics of the textbooks used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and there searches made during the preparation process of the boks were examined. Thisresearchwasbased on the "Cultural items and sub-items reflecting on the texts" scale prepared by Okur and Keskin (2013), and this scale, which was examined by four faculty members working in the Turkish Education Department, was adapted according to there search. The study was limited to four textbooks of the I'm Learning Turkish Set consisting of 6 units at A1 and A2 levels. In this study, which was organized as a qualitative research in the scanning model, the data were collected using the document analysis technique. As a result of the research, it was determined that the textbooks selected as the sample were insufficient in terms of cultural transfer. It has been concluded that the distribution of cultural elements in the examined textbooks is not balanced and does not provide the opportunity to make intercultural comparisons. Through this study, it has been tried to provide data opportunity for new teaching materials to be prepared in the future.
