Development of a listening test for learners of Turkish as a foreign language

This study aims to develop an internationally valid B1 level Turkish listening exam for Turkish as a foreign language. For this purpose, Common European Framework (CEFR) B1 level, Weir(2005)'s social-cognitive framework and other internationally being used language exams which were approved valid and reliable were examined and a whole exam was developed considering them. The exam prepared considering these were conducted with 31 particpants in Istanbul University Language Center and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University TUMER. ""Exam Evaluation Questionnaire" was also conducted to collect data from the participants and the teachers. The validity and reliability of the exam was examined based on the results. During the examination, listening frameworks and Common European Language Framework were applied. Finally, limitations and suggestions for further versions of the exam wre discussed. Other sample exams using the same format were provided in the attachment apart from the exam applied in the study. It is believed that this study will contribute to the development of a B1 level listening exam for Turkish as a foreign langauge which can be used internationally accepted one exam.
