Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to develop a reading test that measures reading ability of the learners of Turkish as a foreign language. The test was developed based on level descriptors in Common European Framework of References. The test was applied to 76 students learning Turkish as a foreign language in İstanbul University Language Center. Data obtained from test takers were analyzed in terms of validity and reliability. In the first part of the study, reading skill and teaching Turkish as a foreign language were discussed. In the second part, main concerns in testing and evaluation were investigated. The third part of the study dealt with the validity and reliability of the exam. Some sample questions developed correspondingly with internationally valid and reliable reading texts and Common European Framework of References but not included in the exam were presented in the appendices part as suggestions.
