Özet (EN)

Teaching language is a kind of teaching culture. The best works reflecting a nation's cultural qualities are its written texts.Using customary dialogue texts in teaching Turkish as a foreign language makes learning process very monotonous. We have to use different types and contents of written texts to save that process from monotony.Tales are very often used in teaching mother language because they have very rich qualities belonging to its culture and language. However, there isn't any study in that field; that is why we are making this study. We examined the 25 tales in the book "Az Gittik Uz Gittik" of Pertev Naili Boratav in our study. 5 tales were chosen from that book. Every one of these tales was used for one of these fields: "reading, listening, speaking, writing and grammar" and activity examples were prepared. In addition to cultural wealth, tales are attractive types both for adults and children. They are suitable for teaching languages thanks to their easily understandable structure. Thus; we believe that this study on tales in teaching Turkish as a foreign language will contribute to the field a lot.
