Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine and evaluate the activities aimed at improving listening comprehension skills in the textbooks commonly used in teaching Turkish to foreigners in the context of intercultural communication and understanding. In this context, the New Hittite Turkish Textbook for Foreigners prepared by Ankara University TÖMER and Turkish Textbook for Foreigners prepared by Gazi University TÖMER were selected as samples. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages explains the knowledge and skills that language learners need to acquire and develop, including the socio-cultural context of languages. In line with the socio-cultural information in D-AOBM, which is aimed to be acquired by language learners, the cultural elements of the listening texts that are the subject of the study were determined, and these elements were examined in terms of their suitability for the intercultural approach. Since it was thought that it would be appropriate to reach the aim of the study, the data about the study were collected by the document analysis method, which is one of the qualitative research methods. When the relevant textbooks are compared; Listening texts in the New Hittite Turkish for Foreigners Textbook; Despite some shortcomings, it was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the intercultural communicative competence approach in terms of reflecting the target culture, presenting examples of different subcultures, developing positive attitudes towards different cultures and raising awareness; It has been concluded that although Turkish culture is well reflected in the listening texts in the Turkish for Foreigners Textbook, there is no balance in the distribution of cultural elements. In line with the deficiencies identified in both books, suggestions have been developed that are thought to be guiding the language teaching materials to be prepared.
