Abstract (EN)

Word presence is an important building block that forms the basis of a language. How important is vocabulary in mother tongue teaching; vocabulary is an indispensable element in teaching a language as a foreign language. Turkish language is a rich language in vocabulary. Proverbs, idioms, relational words, reduplication, exclamation and proper nouns in the language are vocabulary elements that reflect the language and culture. The importance of vocabulary in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and introducing culture is the starting point of this research. Purpose of the study; the existence of vocabulary consisting of idioms, proverbs, relational words, reduplication, exclamation and proper nouns in story books used in teaching Turkish to foreigners; It was determined as revealing the frequency and prevalence of words in story books as comparatively. Universe of the research, all of the story books used in teaching Turkish to foreigners; 7 story books titled "Bayram, Hakan's Diary, We Have a Guest, Exams Begins, Holiday Surprise, My New Friend, Our New School" belonging to the Series of Children's Stories prepared by Yunus Emre Institute and A2 level "Birthday, Istanbul Excitement, Classes Compete, Let's Ask, Learn, Vacation Plan, Our New Life, Green Lake ", which consists of 14 story books. "Document review method" was used in the research. The stories were transferred to the computer environment and words were removed from inflectional suffixes in order to determine their word frequency. At the same time, compound words, proverbs, idioms, relation words are arranged to be counted as a single word. The Cibakaya 2.0 program was used to determine the word frequency of the story books. The word frequency list of each story book was created and from the frequency lists created, the vocabulary elements were determined and classified into tables. The obtained data were interpreted, it was found that there were differences between A1 and A2 level story books in terms of word frequency and vocabulary elements; It was determined that A1 level story books are richer than A2 level story books in terms of word usage, relation words, proper names and exclamations. When compared with other researches, it was determined that the course and story books were parallel. Suggestions were made according to the data obtained at the end of the study.
