Text adaptation in teaching turkish to foreigners and the adaptation of Memduh Şevket Esendal's story "Pazarlık" to A2 level

Many textbooks and academic books have been published for the purpose of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. However, when the students need auxiliary materials, the resources printed in the field are insufficient. Especially the resources to contribute to reading and understanding skills are few.In this study, methods for adapting the original texts are explained for those who learn Turkish as a foreign language. As an adaptation example, the story of "Pazarlık", which is an original text, was adapted according to A2 level and given in the study.The universe of the study is the stories of Memduh Şevket Esendal, and the sample of the study is Memduh Şevket Esendal's story titled 'Pazarlık'. The grammar structures and words which were not appropriate to level A2 were determined by scanning method. These structures and words were adapted by taking into account the gains of the levels set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the grammar rules in the sets of İstanbul Yabancılar İçin Türkçe, Yedi İklim Yabancılar İçin Türkçe, Gazi TÖMER Yabancılar İçin Türkçe and Yeni Hitit Yabancılar İçin Türkçe. In these sets, pre-reading, while-reading and post-reading activities were examined and activity samples were prepared for the adapted text.The use of new Turkish literature works as a foreign language in Turkish teaching enables Turkish literature and Turkish culture to be known closely. With this study, it is intended New Turkish Literature to be recognized in different cultures.
