Perceived social support and emotional intelligence in work alienation: A research on the mediator role of emotional labor theory's dimensions

Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to examine the effect of perceived social support and emotional intelligence on work alienation and to determine whether dimensions of emotional labor have mediating role on these effects. Within the scope of the research, data were collected from 376 operation employees that work at deposit banks operating in Istanbul by questionnaire. Within the frame of the research, the effect of surface acting, deep acting, natural behavior and emotional intelligence that can be accepted as individual factors, and the perceived social support that can be accepted as organizational factor on work alienation were investigated. In addition, the mediating role of surface acting, deep acting and natural behavior in the effect of emotional intelligence on work alienation and the effect of perceived social support on work alienation was also examined. As a result of research, it was confirmed that natural behavior, emotional intelligence and perceived social support have negatively effect on work alienation. Also, it was revealed that natural behavior has a mediator role in the effect of emotional intelligence on the work alienation and the effect of percevied social support on work alienation.
