Public space in novels of Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu

Public space is a concept that has constantly developed on a historical level from ancient times to the present day and has never lost its importance. This should not be seen as an ordinary place where people gather together. The most important feature that distinguishes the public space from an ordinary place is that it vividly maintains the relationship networks between people and ultimately the harmony and balance within society. It is thanks to the experiences and shares in the public sphere that the news in a newspaper resonates in homes and streets, and that historical events that will continue to be important over the years affect today's lifestyle. As the balance and harmony here continues, people have come to the fore with both their own "I" and their "selves" that stand out in the public sphere and look after the public good. The public sphere represented people's ideas and political views in Antiquity and the Middle Ages. Especially in ancient times, balance and order in the private sphere were accepted as a prerequisite for competence in the public sphere. In the Middle Ages, the border between public and private space was clear, although not as sharp as in the Ancient Age. The balances that changed with industrialization since the 17th century also changed the borders. The sharp border between home and public space has been erased, and the conditions brought by the capitalist system have made the home no longer a center of production. In this study, the public spaces in Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu's novels were tried to be identified one by one, taking into account the communication styles between people.
