Determination of voice disorders and risk factors of religious officials in Yalova province

The aim of this study is to determine the symptoms and risk factors of voice disorders in religious duties in Yalova province. A total of 69 people, including 28 imam-hatips, 20 muezzin-kayyims and 21 Quran course instructors working under the Presidency of Religious Affairs Yalova Mufti's Office, constitute the sample of the study. "Religious Officials' Voice Disorders Assessment and Risk Factors Determination Survey" was used as a data collection tool. The independent variables of the study are age, gender, working life, working environment, habits and quality of life; the dependent variable is the feeling of pain or irritation in the throat. Data were analyzed using the Two-Way Chi-Square test for two variables. It was concluded that 63.8% of religious officials complained of pain or irritation in the throat. A significant relationship was found between gender, title variables, maximum working hours on a weekday, noise in the work environment and smoking, and the feeling of pain or irritation in the throat.
