The responsibilities of building control firms in terms of occupational HEALTH and safety

The aim of this thesis study; to determine the responsibilities of the building inspection companies operating in the construction sector in terms of occupational health and safety, and to recommend that they also conduct inspections on occupational health and safety during the inspection. For this reason, in the study, firstly, a literature study on the subject was made and information about occupational health and safety, building inspection, and the development process of building inspection was given. Later, by preparing checklists, it is aimed to make the building inspection more effective in terms of occupational health and safety. Elmeri observation form was prepared for the construction and Elmeri safety index was calculated for the constructions at different levels, which were inspected by building inspection companies in Çorum center. As a result, it has been revealed that the constructions inspected by the building inspection firms are not generally safe in terms of occupational health and safety and that the construction inspection firms do not fulfill their duties related to occupational health and safety specified in the law. With the prepared checklist (control forms) and the elmeri method, the duties of building inspection companies related to occupational health and safety in construction inspections can be fulfilled more effectively.
