Determination of repairing and strengthening costs of existing buildings by excel program

In this study, reinforced concrete and architecture projects of 6 buildings of different type and number of flats which are approved by Afyonkarahisar Municipality and Eskişehir Odunpazari Municipality; 3 of them were build between 1980 and 1989 and others were built between 1990 and 1997. Necessity of component and system strengthening was researched by making modeling and static analysis of available projects through computer software within the frame of TDY 75 and DBYBHY 07 and TS 500 standard.Cost calculations required to determine economy of repairing and strengthening of structures to be performed to eliminate deficiencies were done by the assistance of Microsoft Visual Basic supported Excel software by using unit prices and analysis methods of Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Public Works and Settlement. Existing building were redesigned according to current standards and regulation principles in force, provided that original architecture projects were kept the same and regarding costs were calculated. Consequently, the comparison between repairing?strengthening of existing buildings and rebuilding of new design cost was done.Automatically and systematically calculating repairing?strengthening costs by using Excel software facilitated a great convenience and saved time.Key Words: Design, repairing?strengthening, Excel software, cost
