Examination of effect of radiation awareness on protection from radiation via structural equation modelling:an application on students of health sciences at afyon kocatepe university

It is known that the electronic devices produced by the very rapid developments in technology cause negative effects on living organisms. To facilitate life, these devices are used for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes and are exposed to radiation. It is observed that the level of knowledge about the radiation and damage of the society is insufficient. The aim of this research, Afyon Kocatepe University of Afyon Kocatepe University Atatürk Health College and vocational school of Health Services, health-related fields, students studying radiation awareness and radiation putting out the levels of protection; radiation protection radiation awareness, is to determine the impact. The sample of the research group, Afyon Kocatepe University School of health and Afyon Kocatepe University health services vocational school studying at 585 students. As the three parts of the data collection technique in the research (demographic characteristics, knowledge of radiation protection radiation awareness scale, scale) was used in the survey. Study the distribution of frequency distribution, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, in addition to the descriptive statistics, iv descriptive, such as Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) used and applied. As a result of the study it's found out that the radiation awareness and knowledge of protection from radiation levels of university students studying at health-related areas are at intermediate level. Awareness and knowledge levels about protection from radiation and radiation awareness of the students at medical imaging techniques program is also not as high as expected. However, it's found out that radiation awareness has significant effect on knowledge about protection from radiation and the most effective sub dimension is physics knowledge
