Abstract (EN)

Objective: Turkey and the United Kingdom's use of time by comparing the dynamics in communities with different cultures and evaluating differences based on gender and age to give a unique study for national literature and create a resource for policies that can be used when producing a new policy. Method: The study has a quantitative methodological approach. A secondary data analysis made by using micro datas of Turkey Time Use Survey 2014-2015 (TÜİK, 2015) and United Kingdom Time Use Survey 2014-2015 (CTuR, 2015). " What are the factors affecting the choice of time use of individuals in Turkey and the United Kingdom?" In order to answer the question, life strategies of both countries and sub-dimensions of life strategy were analyzed comparatively by using SPSS program, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and multiple linear regression techniques. Results: The Factors that affect the use of time of individuals in United Kingdom and Turkey are grouped under three main headings. These headings are Personal Features, Working Time and Household Income. Personal characteristics are age, gender and marital status. Turkey and the United Kingdom in the Psychological Area, Family Area, Social Area, Personal Area and Travel Area between the models have different model prediction rates and factors related to these Area . The most effective factor in many areas of life strategy in Turkey has been a gender, in the United Kingdom weekly working time is the most effective factor in multiple Area. Conclusion: As a results has shown that there are a difference of factors that affect the preference of time use between the United Kingdom and Turkey. This situation supports the argument that the use of time has different tendencies in different cultures. In social policies, regulations are needed for the social inequalities identified within the social structure.
