Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to reveal the current situation of academic development in higher education institutions in Turkey in the context of legal and structural characteristics in detail. Academic development emerges as a separate disciplinary field in developed countries and many research activities are carried out in this field. In Turkey, however, it has not yet been recognised as a systematic research and discipline area. In this context, it is important to examine the legal status, objectives and personnel status of academic development units in higher education institutions in Turkey, to determine the problems and needs in the field and to access data on the design of the academic development system. For this purpose, after analysing the relevant legal documents of 23 universities, interviews were conducted with 5 academic development experts, 5 administrators and 10 academics from 6 different universities.
