The existence of the words in the novel "Cakircali Efe" by Yasar Kemal

Language ise crucial device that ensures comunicationamong human being. Over time, this device has developed and enriched itself until today. Words are the most meaningfull and the smallest unit of a language. However sometimes a single word can not stond for on object or some situations we experience in daily life. Because of this vocabulary gains importance. Vocabulary; it includes not only the words of a language used in the standard language, but also it includer all the words that reflect the tradition of society, material and spiritual culture, experiences and worldview of the society. With vocabulary studies, it is light on the development and change of language in the historical process. Thus, the sound, meaning and shape changes that occur in the language are revealed. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the vocabulary of Yaşar Kemal in Çakırcalı Efe novel. Ömer Asım Aksoy's Atasözleri ve Deyimler 1-2 and Vecihe Hatiboğlu's Türk Dilinde İkileme were taken as a basic framework and the elements of vocabulary in the novel were identified by using the source scanning method. The elements identified were categorized and the sentences in the novel were given together with the page numbers. Heir lexical index was made. Based on the findings, it was found that Yaşar Kemal used Turkish vocabulary effectively in Çakırçalı Efe novel. In this study, many dilemmas, idioms, proverbs, and that reflect the power, richness and possibilities of expression of Turkish language have been revealed. It is expected that these vocabulary will contribute to revealing the broad vocabulary of Turkish language. Keywords: Cakircali Efe, Idiom, Vocabolary, Yasar Kemal
