Abstract (EN)

This methodological study was conducted to adapt the loneliness inventory for older adults, developed by Bandari et al. (2022), into Turkish and to determine its validity and reliability properties. The sample of the study consisted of 384 participants who applied to the Hatay Serinyol 70th Year Family Health Center between May 2024 and December 2024. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Loneliness Inventory for Older Adults, and the UCLA Loneliness Scale-V3. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics as well as validity and reliability analyses. The study found that the Turkish version of the loneliness inventory for older adults consists of 29 items with a 5-factor structure, and the factor loadings of the items ranged from 0.794 to 0.903. The model fit indices of the scale were calculated as χ²/df= 1.564, CFI= 0.978, GFI= 0.908, NFI= 0.943, IFI= 0.978, TLI= 0.976, RMSEA= 0.038, and SRMR= 0.039. Additionally, the overall Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the scale was determined to be 0.951, and the item-total correlation coefficients ranged from 0.494 to 0.725. In conclusion, the Turkish version of the loneliness inventory for older adults has been shown to be a valid and reliable measurement tool.
