The effect of successful aging and ego integrity on psychological adaptation in elderly individuals

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between personality traits, successful aging and ego integrity and psychological adjustment in the elderly. Relational screening model was used in the study and the research group, where the scales were applied, consists of individuals living in the province of Osmaniye between the ages of 50-95. In the research, Personal Information Form, Quick Big Five Personality Test, Successful Aging Scale, Ego Integrity and Hopelessness Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale and Depression Scale were applied to the research group as a data collection tool. During the analysis of the data obtained from the research, AMOS 22 and SPSS 23 package program was used. In order to test the relationship between variables at the point of data analysis, Pearson Moments Product Correlation Coefficient was used, and hierarchical regression analysis were used to determine the predictive effects of independent variables on the dependent variable. According to the findings obtained from the research, the relationship between life satisfaction and depression with independent variables was found to be significant. As a result of the analyzed hierarchical regression analysis, it was observed that the gender variable could not predict life satisfaction significantly, but significantly predicted depression. In addition, it is found out that successful aging emotional balance, openness to experience and life satisfaction significantly and that healthy aging, extraversion, emotional balance, openness to experience, and ego integrity predicted depression significantly.
