Abstract (EN)
Aging is an unstoppable process that exists in the course of life and does not stop or regress. In the direction of this process, as the health conditions, welfare level and living standards of the society improve, people are able to live longer. As a result of these effects, an increase in the number of elderly population in societies will be observed, and it is predicted that the elderly population will increase in Turkiye's population in the coming years. In the face of the increasing elderly population, it draws attention to the fact that the problems of the elderly, the quality of life and the increase of satisfaction levels should be given attention. In this regard, the creation of appropriate spaces that can meet the psychological, physiological and socio-economic requirements for the elderly and obtain information about the elderly period is becoming important for both elderly individuals and designers. In this context, with the researches in this thesis, it is aimed to present suggestions for the creation of living environments with high spatial quality in terms of landscape architecture by adressing elderly care and nursing homes for the quality of life of elderly individuals. In this thesis study, face-to-face interviews were conducted with elderly people living in the Bartın 75. Yıl Nursing Home, the interior and exterior changes made with the current old state of the building were examined. In the questionnaire, it is benefitted from the Quality of Life scale determined by the World Health Organization. According to results obtained; it is determined that the spatial changes and renovation works carried out in the Bartın 75. Yıl Nursing Home provide positive effects on the quality of life of elderly individuals, and standards increase with the improvement of conditions. In this thesis, the identified deficiencies as a result of survey evaluations and suggestions for spatial improvements are presented.
