Abstract (EN)

Our aim in this study is to present histological changes that occur on skin beginning in intrauterine period to old age, with samples that we get from five different parts of body.32 Spraque Dawley species healthy female rats which were provided from Inönü University Laboratory Animals Research Center, were used in this study. The Subjects were divided into 4 groups and each group was formed by 8 rats. 1st group: Intrauterine Group (before birth) group of 19 days, 2nd group: Postpartum (after birth) group of 21 days, 3rd Group: Postpartum (after birth) group of 60 days, 4th group: Postpartum(after birth) group of 19 months. At the end of the study, skin samples from back, abdomen, head, arm and leg area were taken from all of the subjects under anaesthetize of ketamine/xylazine. The samples were buried in paraffin by being processed routinely. Mayer?s Hemotoksilen-Eozin, Masson?s Trichome, Elastic Van Gieoson?s, Mowry?s Collaidal Iron, Periodic Asit Schiff and Toluidine Blue paint methods were applied to serial sections obtained from paraffin blocks and examined. The skin samples of head, abdomen, back, arm and leg belonging to each group were evaluated separately both morphologically and statistically in terms of epidermis, dermis and basal membrane thickness; numbers, height and width of dermal papilla, mast cell and number of units of pilosebaseWhen all groups were evaluated with skin areas, it was determined that the thickest epidermis is in before birth group, it became thinner after birth but it became thicker again by age, thickness of basal membrane became thicker as the age went up, thickness of dermis went up from intrauterine period to 2 months period but it decreased in old age group. I was determined that when we look in terms of the number, height and with of Dermal papillas, all these parameters went up from before birth period to 60 days period but it decreased in old age group. When we looked through mast sell numbers in all groups and all analyzed skin areas, we observed that the maximum numbers were in intrauterine period and the numbers were decreased gradually from after birth. When pilobase unit numbers on dermis was analyzed, pilobase units were encountered increasingly after birth, that we never encountered in intrauterine period, but it was determined that the numbers decreased again on old skin.Consequently, in the very latest analysis and measuring it has been determined that there are morphologic differences between intrauterine period and postpartum period each other associated with age in terms of specified parameters on rats and different skin areas.Key words: Skin, aging, histology
