The elderlies'sense of satisfaction regarding social policies for the elderly: Yalova case

The old age process, which is one of the life processes of every healthy individual in the world; it is accepted as a period in which the individual goes back in every respect. As a result of technological developments and preventive services in medicine and the development of treatments for chronic diseases, individuals live for many years and the elderly population in the world is increasing day by day. Especially; In developed and developing countries, it is observed that the elderly population increase is higher in these country groups due to the reasons such as the adequacy of economic opportunities and ease of access to health services. Developing countries located in Turkey from the group of the elderly population along with the improvements made in recent years in the field of health and economic opportunities of development is seen to increase from year to year. As a result of the family structure changing with the migration from rural to urban; elderly individuals are left alone in the countryside or have to live in nursing homes in the city. The elderly, one of the important pillars of the society, try to hold on to life by staying between these two options. It began to be implemented in Turkey in recent years in corporate services and versatile behalf Efforts to improve the living conditions of the elderly are a number of steps have been taken. In particular, the services offered to elderly individuals under the umbrella of the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the activities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), foundations and associations increasing their work day by day in order to support elderly individuals. The main objective of the study was to examine the social policies that apply to the elderly in Turkey and on a local basis, assess their satisfaction with the implementation of this policy, the elderly, the new solution is to provide recommendations in light of the evaluation results. Accordingly, the study consists of three chapters. In the first part, the definition of age and elderly concepts, old age theories and the concept of social policy are emphasized. In the second part; to-date statistics are dealt with elderly people in the world and Turkey. It has been mentioned social policies that apply to the elderly in Turkey. Third part; In the context of social policies implemented in Turkey, Yalova has reviewed the findings of the data obtained and the study questionnaires administered to elderly individuals. Within the scope of the research, a questionnaire consisting of 31 questions was directed to 380 aged individuals aged 65 and over in Yalova. The questionnaire questions were used to evaluate the perceptions of elderly individuals towards social policies and services applied to the elderly. The findings obtained in the questionnaire were tested with SPSS program, tables and hypotheses created by frequency and Chi-square test. In the conclusion; It has been determined that the satisfaction and happiness of elderly individuals from living in Yalova is independent from social policies, and especially the social policies that should be developed by institutions and local administrations and the happiness and satisfaction levels of elderly individuals will be increased.
