Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to reveal the anxiety of students studying in regional boarding schools towards science course. The study was conducted in a quantitative and screening model. Data were collected by reaching 393 secondary school students studying in regional boarding schools with an easily accessible sample. It was observed that the reliability of the collected data was high and showed a normal distribution. Parametric tests were used in the analysis of the data. In the study, the highest average regarding the anxiety levels of YBO students towards science course was measured in the probability of low end-of-year grade point average of science course. The lowest average was found to be low in the item related to the tenseness of concepts related to science. The anxiety level in the items was found to be low and medium. The anxiety levels of YBO students towards science course are at the highest average level in the sub-dimensions and in general in the exam anxiety dimension and at the medium level. This is followed by the interest dimension at the medium level, while the lowest average level is at the low level in the course anxiety dimension. The general anxiety level is at the medium level. While it was seen that the anxiety levels of students towards science course did not show any significant difference in the course anxiety dimension, interest dimension and general anxiety level according to the gender variable, the average of female students was measured statistically higher than male students in the exam anxiety dimension. While it was seen that the anxiety levels of students towards science course did not show any significant difference in the course anxiety dimension, interest dimension and general anxiety level according to the age variable, it was seen that the exam anxiety dimension was higher in 10-11 and 14-15 age students. While there is no significant difference in the level of anxiety of students towards science course in terms of grade level variable in terms of exam anxiety dimension, interest dimension and general anxiety level, there is a significant difference in the level of anxiety of 5th grade students with higher level of anxiety.
