Abstract (EN)
Urban spaces bring people together with social and public uses, enabling them to communicate and interact with one another. Pedestrian movements in urban space have a guiding role in design with their contribution to socialization potential. Pedestrian and pedestrian spaces, on the other hand, are important in terms of the effects on pedestrian mobility, pedestrian space relations and interaction of environmental values. Thus, the mobility created by the pedestrians to be emphasized, the pedestrian axes become clearer, contribute to the definition of spatial features. In this thesis, Samsun Kurtuluş Road, which has a historical importance, and its close environs have been chosen. Samsun Kurtuluş Road, which has the characteristics of urban public space, and its close environment, firstly the conceptual structures based on pedestrian movements, space relation and urban public spaces are discussed. The aim of the study is to define pedestrian movements and space relations in the research area and to emphasize the importance of pedestrian movements in urban space. In addition, the factors that guide pedestrian movements are examined in order to ensure that pedestrian movements take place in a healthy way.In this context, spatial analyzes were carried out by observing and observing on-site observations of Samsun Kurtuluş Road and its immediate surroundings. The survey aimed to determine the perception, satisfaction, expectations and requests of the users for the space. 400 people were surveyed. The data were analyzed with SPSS 22 (Statistical Package for the Social Science) program. As a result, the contribution of pedestrian movements in urban public spaces to the quality of life has been demonstraded by evaluating Samsun Kurtuluş Road and its immediate surroundings in terms of urban landscape desing.
