Child victims of crime and juveniles pushed to crime in written media

Purpose of the Research: This research constitutes an evaluation of news reports related to child victims of crime and juveniles pushed to crime in printed media within the context of children's rights and violations thereof, as well as the social function of media. Method and Scope of the Research: The news reports of Cumhuriyet and Hürriyet newspapers in 2008, 2009 and 2010, considered to represent varying publication policies and to appeal to mass population, in relation to events related to child victims of crime and juveniles pushed to crime, have been scanned with the technique of content analysis. Outcome: News reports related to child victims of crime and juveniles pushed to crime appear as a field where children's rights are violated, negative public perceptions regarding children are reflected, or constructed and provided to public circulation.
