The investigation of the rock symbols in Yazılıkaya Valley Midas Monument and Köhnüs Valley Aslankaya Monument and interpretion of Linoleum printmaking relief and techniques

Phrygians, who were thought to come to Anatolia as a result of the Aegean migrations in the 12th century B.C. , are a great civilization that has given many work of arts in this land in artistic and cultural perspective. It is possible to see these work of arts today in the geographical region known as the Phrygian Valley. In this region, the unique Rock Monuments belonging to the Phrygians and the rich motifs and embellishments adorning these structures with their cults are noteworthy. These monuments are cultural heritages that need to be preserved and maintained. The unique architectural features of Midas Monument and Aslankaya Monument, which are two of Rock Monuments in the Phrygian Valley, are noteworthy with their rich visual symbols that adorn the structure. This study is important for examining the visual symbols of the Midas monument and the Aslankaya monument, and for attracting attention to artistic practices made with the Linolium printing technique of these monuments. This study is in screening model. In addition, this study has been conducted on excursions, examinations and practices. The aim of study is to examine the visual symbols at Midas Monument and Aslankaya Monument to transform the artistic interpretations with linol printing technique and to analyze the work of arts. In extent of this research, the plastic analysis of 14 work of arts produced by linol printing technique was made. The details taken from the ancient appearances of Midas Monument and Aslankaya Monument and the visual symbols in ancient structures were designed in Photoshop with a collage technique and were printed in multicolor with linol technique. In order to provide the ancient texture effects in the structures, wet-pressing methods by overlapping the carving tips and colors are used. The textural effects obtained in this way have played and important role in achieving an effort to reach an original expression language.
