Abstract (EN)

The advent of Software-defined networking (SDN) as one of the promising solutions of the future Internet has been characterized by its two distinct features including separation of the control plane from the data plane and granting programming ability for network application development in various areas such as: security, Quality of Service (QoS), traffic engineering (TE), load balancing, etc. The main goal of SDN is to centralize the network control in an intelligent software called the controller. One of the problems that can be solved using the concept of SDN is network bandwidth allocation to provide QoS. This study aims at exploiting and discussing the implementation of QoS mechanism by proposing an SDN-app to provide user defined bandwidth allocation to manage different kinds of traffic such as VOIP, TCP and UDP traffic and evaluate the extent to which these QoS services can be guaranteed on RYU controller. The intelligence of SDN can be utilized to ensure that network bandwidth is allocated to the applications that need it and according to the user demand as well. In addition, a monitoring system has been proposed to monitor the behavior of the queues. The proposed method ensure rate promising and limiting bandwidth for different application requirements. SDN network was built and implemented on Mininet runs on a virtual machine (VM), to test and analyze the effectiveness of the proposed framework.
