A review of Turkish composition (letters) in terms of writing education

Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to examine the compositions that written for the purpose of informing about writing/correspondence rules in Turkish Literature between 14-20th centuries within the framework of today's Turkish writting education. For this purpose, the data related to writing education in the eighteen letters selected considering that reflects the universe according to professional opinion and including at least one work from every century were collected and classified by document review method. The data that can be included in the writing education were analyzed by descriptive analysis and content analysis methods and were written as subtitles that corresponded to present-day writing education, and then similarities and differences between two literatures of periods were identified. Striking findings were obtained in the form of answers to research questions created within the theoretical framework of present-day writing education. In this qualitative research that prepared in the scanning model, findings about importance, mental and intellectual resources and basic principles of writing education; textuality criteria; expression styles, expression defects, stages of writing process, elements of written expression, writing methods and techniques, text types used in the writing education, writing models, evaluation of written expression were reached and discussed whether these findings specified in didactic letters can be updated and can be used in teaching Turkish. In addition, the elements of writing education that are not used today but are included in these works were determined. Based on findings, remarkable conclusions were arrived at such as great importance was attached to practise, writing of perfect prose and its rules, writing education was carried out through private and official correspondence in these works, conditions of being able to produce a quality written expression were included in didactic letters. Furthermore, the conclusion arrived at is that the success to be achieved in this field would have been led to progress in all branches of science was emphasized. One of the remarkable results of the study is that most of the knowledge in these works is still valid and some of these can be updated and used in present-day writing education. According to these results it can be said that benefits could be derived from the old works in teaching Turkish. It was aimed that this work which will be a bridge between the past and the future, to create a new step in the way of teaching Turkish to reach higher levels in the future with the power that received from the past.
