Abstract (EN)

The Seven Torchbearers, known as the first literary society of the Republican Period that emerged with the declaration, consists of seven people. These seven young people, who are close to each other in age, published a magazine called Torch in 1928 after writing in Servet-i Fünun for a while and published a book called Seven Torches. The Strange current, on the other hand, is among the valuable literary communities that emerged during the Republican Dec. Oktay Rıfat Horozcu, Melih Cevdet Anday and Orhan Veli Kan, whose first poems were published in Varlık Magazine in 1937, then united and published a joint book called Strange in 1941. In this research, the aim was determined to carry out the examination of Istanbul-themed poems in the poetry tradition of the seven torches and strange currents. In line with this determined purpose, previous research and studies included in the relevant literature related to the subject have been reviewed. As a result of the literature search conducted, the topics and titles related to the subject were included in the research. As a result of the research, when the Strange current and the poems written by the Seven Torchbearers about the city of Istanbul were examined, it was found that he wrote poems about the historical, cultural and natural beauties of Istanbul similarly in the two groups. This research is important for determining which features of Istanbul are mentioned in the Istanbul-themed poems written by the seven torch poets and strange current poets, in terms of the fact that the number of studies and studies that address the Istanbul-themed poems written by the seven torch poets and strange current poets together in literature is small, and serves as an example for future research and studies on the topic.
