Abstract (EN)

Aim: Aim of this study is to examine the relationship between eating attitudes and body exposure during sexual activity with mate selection and quality of romantic relationship. In this study, examination of relationship between eating attitudes and body exposure during sexual activity with mate selection and quality of romantic relationship was investigated. Method: 151 women and 46 men, a total of 197 adults who have romantic relationships participated in the study. Socio-demographic information form, Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26), Body Exposure During Sexual Activity Questionnaire (BESAQ), Romance and Mate Selection Attitudes Scale and Perceived Romantic Relationship Quality Scale were administered to the participants. The scales used in the current study was delivered to participants via online platform. In the study, Pearson correlation analysis was applied to examine the relationship between eating attitudes, body exposure during sexual activity, mate selection and quality of romantic relationship. Logistic regression analysis was applied to determine the probability between independent variables. Additionally, to assess the difference between independent variables independent samples t test was used. Results: According to the analysis results; there is a significant relationship between eating attitudes and body exposure during sexual activity, eating attitudes and perceived quality of romantic relationship, mate selection and perceived quality of romantic relationship. Additionally, there is a significant difference between males and females as eating attitudes and body exposure during sexual activity. Lastly, it was found that body exposure during sexual activity predicts disordered eating more than other variables.
