Functionality of information technologies in the new primary curriculum

The aim of this study is to expressly state the innovations (in the usage ofInformation Technologies) brought by elementary learning education curriculum whichis lately rearranged according to constructivist approach, and to display how much ofthese innovations is applied by the teachers.The horizon of this study is composed by 389 classroom teachers from 29elementary schools in Uşak city center and in central/main villages, in which classroomof information technologies have been established. While collecting the data,consultation technique and after the collection, researching surveys developed by theresearcher are used. The number of practicable survey returned from the teachers is 303.In the analysis of the data, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation,correlation, T and F test are used. According to the results of this study, in the programactivities, 28 percent of the teachers in this study have never used informationtechnologies, 55 percent of them have used information technologies for 1-5 times in amonth, 16 percent of them have used information technologies for 1-5 times in a weekand only 1 percent of them have used information technologies each and every day. Thevery first reason for their not using information technologies is that they haven?t gotenough knowledge and capability for using information technologies. Also, whencompared with other teachers, the teacher who have computers in their houses or classesand have internet connection, benefit from information technologies in order to achievemore goals before, during and after the lesson.Key Words: Information Technologies, Constructivism
