The Talk of Divinity in the Method of New Theological Kalam (Comparison of Tenkih al-Kalam and Yeni Ilmi Kalâm)

In this thesis study, the mentions of divinity in the second book of Tenkīhu al-kalām fi 'aqā'id ehli al-Islam written by Abdullatif Harpūtī and the second book of Yeni Ilm al-Kalām written by Ismail Hakki Izmirli have been compared from various aspects. Thesis; The theology in Ottoman Turkey, the scientific and philosophical changes in the West, the effects of new movements on the Ottoman Empire, the period of the new theology, the lives of Abdullatif Harpûtî and İsmail Hakkı İzmirli, who had great labour in the beginning of the new theology, The book consists of an introduction, three chapters, and a conclusion, in which the scholarly personalities and their works, the summaries of the chapters on divinity in Tenkīhu al-kalām and Yeni Ilm al-Kalām are summarised, the topics covered, and the comparison of these chapters from various perspectives. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of the changes in Western thought on the state and human thought in the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, to observe the changes in the subjects of divinity, to examine how the authors addressed the Western movements, and how Harpūtī and Izmirli tried to respond to these movements in their works. The method of collecting data as a result of literature review and documentation was used.
