Abstract (EN)

After the Second World War, the nations saw the destruction of the war and started to strengthen their relations while trying to wrap their wounds. As a result of the growing trade volume and network, they sought to find ways of delivering goods from one place to another. As a result, maritime transport has begun to develop. Particularly with the opening of China to the capitalist economy since the 1980s, the Asian economy under the leadership of China began to rise. Due to the low unit costs, maritime transport has started to develop. With the importance of maritime transport, ports that can meet all needs started to be constructed. At this stage, investment planning came into prominence due to the cost of port infrastructure installation. Because it was seen that the ports, which were haphazardly addressing the daily needs but implemented with great costs, remained idle after a while. As a result the importance of the planned port design and construction phases has emerged. A good port design should be the product of a multidisciplinary study of technical, economic, sociological and environmental actors. These actors analyze the factors affecting the port design under two groups, humanities and geo-hydrographic. The aim of this study is to investigate the location of the required port location on the Kapıdağ Peninsula. For this purpose, the importance of maritime and maritime transport was firstly identified and the relevant legal regulations were examined. Then the factors affecting port design were determined by literature review and analyzed in detail. Finally, for the port to be built around Kapıdağ, interview, as one of the qualitative data collection techniques, was conducted with the people in the region and human factor outputs were revealed. As a result, it has been evaluated that the construction of a new port in the vicinity of İlhanköy will be appropriate provided that the infrastructure works are completed.
