Analysis of Wikileaks in the new media order in the context of leaking journalism

Abstract (EN)
In this study the consept of leaking journalism, that comes up as a result of the converter effect of mass communication and information technologies upon the journalism profession. has been examined, by using bibliography search method. The first mass medium newspaper and the journalism profession, which's history going back to the news papers that comes up in the 13th century, has had a metamorphosis by force of the technological innovations, emerging and expanding much more snapily after the exploration of printing press. On the one hand, the emerging developments, especially after the Industrial Revolution, cause proliferation of the newspapers by affecting their circulation and cost, on the other hand the technological innovations like photograph, telegram, telephone, steam print, typesetter, transmitter, radio, television, have provided new possibilities and opportunities. The internet revolution that has occured in the later 20th century, has clarified the distinction between the print media and the electronic media after the radio and television, and had been a very important turning point in terms of journalism. As the web technologies have been progressed the 'Citizen Journalism' and the 'Leaking Journalism' concepts have been added to the 'Internet Journalism' concept, that has come up afterward the internet has been the most extensive news sharing medium. Nowadays the developments that have been occured in the field of information and communication technologies, have given freedom to the information that is under the domination of sovereign powers, also the technology has caused transformation on the methods and the mission of the journalism. At this point the 'Leaking Journalism' concept deserves special attention that gathers traditional media and the web technologies. WikiLeaks which is the first broadcasting corporation that implementing leaking journalism systematically, forces the governments, economic and political structures, and big companies to become transparent, by its specific technical infrastructure, way of work and organizational form. Because of the reasons like monopolization, corruption, pressure, censorship, government-capital relationship, the journalism profession that has been away from the mission of fourth power, has incerasingly lost prestige. At this point, the method of journalism that WikiLeaks has been performing, must be examined about what it means for journalism and made use of an opportunity.
