Abstract (EN)

In the first part of this work, the synthesis of NaLnP2O7.xH2O (Ln: Nd, Gd, Dy,Er, Yb) compounds which were not reported before, were investigated by usingsolution reactions. The products were analyzed by thermal analysis (TG-DTG, DSC),X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (IR) methods.The crystal water of these products were found between 4-5 moles by using TGanalysis. The products were heated at different temperatures to obtain anhydrousdiphosphate compounds. From these compounds, NaNdP2O7 which was obtained at650oC, was indexed in the orthorhombic crystal system and its refined unit cellparameters were calculated as a = 12.579 (7), b = 15.10(1) and c = 16.03 (1) Å.It was not possible to prepare the dehydrated NaGdP2O7 compound. After heatingperiod; hydrated NaGdP2O7 compound was decomposed to GdPO4, Gd2P4O13 andHGdP2O7 compounds. On the other hand, dehydrated pseudo-NaDyP2O7 and NaErP2O7 compounds wereobtained at 550oC. The product of dehydrated crystalline NaYbP2O7 was observed at500oC. In the second part of this work, the LnBP2O8 (Ln=Nd, Gd, Dy, Er and Yb)compounds were prepared through solid state reactions. It was found that, Nd and Gdborophosphates have monazite structure, Dy, Er and Yb borophosphates havexenotime structure.In this thesis, the existence of P2O74-, PO4 3- and BO4 units for the obtainedproducts were investigated by using IR spectroscopy method.Keywords: Phosphate, borate, borophosphate, diphosphate, lanthanidediphosphate, lanthanide borophosphate, xenotime, monazite, XRD, IR, thermalanalysis.
