Abstract (EN)

This study aims to demonstrate how changes in the economic, social, political and cultural life of Turkey find expression in the social life. It argues that the new Turkish cinema with its sectoral growth occured in the second half of the 90s is a suitable area to examine how all these changes impact social and culturel life of Turkey. The study includes three parts. In the first part, it was outlined the history of cinema in Turkey from the firs entry of cinema to Turkey to 80s as actors period, transition period, film-markers period, the period of young Turkish cinema.Then, it was mentioned about the political, economic and social conditions of the Turkey in 80s which existed with the slogans that was?suppressed of word? on the hand and `explosion of word? on the other hand as how they reflect to Turkish cinema. The second chapter, states political, economic and social factors of 90s and the effects of consumer culture and popular culture cases on Turkish cinema. This capter presents the return of Turkish cinema that was said to be dead with ? Eşkıya? and it explains the sense of cinema changed with the concept of the director cinema starting down the road ? Eşkıya? .The third chapter explains, political, economic, social condition of the 2000s and the concept of the new Turkish cinema expressing the separation from Yeşilçam. The last part of this chapter demonstrates, the increase in the interest on the cinema with quantitative data such as the number of domestic and foreign film, the number of domestic and foreign audience, the number of cinema and screen, the number of digital cinema hall and screen, the amount of state support.
