Abstract (EN)

Factors such as the increase in the world population, industrialization and urbanization cause the demand of people for energy resources to increase rapidly. The use of fossil fuels to meet energy needs causes environmental degradation by causing carbon gas emissions in the atmosphere. The increase in carbon emissions has consequences that may adversely affect our future, such as environmental pollution, global warming, climate change and depletion of non-renewable energy resources. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the impact of renewable energy and economic factors (economic growth, financial development, foreign direct investments) on carbon emissions in Turkey. Using the annual data for the period 1990-2021, ADF and PP Unit Root tests were applied to determine the stationarity of the variables. As a result of the study, it has been observed that increases in economic factors increase carbon emissions, which are considered as an environmental impact indicator. Keywords: Carbon emission, renewable energy, economic factors, cointegration regressions.
