Abstract (EN)
Global warming, of which main source is burning event, is one of the problem which modern life has caused. Air pollution seen in cities, one of the main reasons for global warming, is caused by the devices used to heat the buildings, also by the use of low caloried coals with high ratio in sulfur, ash and humidity. The air pollution is seen densely in Kutahya, as in many cities of Turkey. Since the emissions are in high amounts, its contribution to global warming is too much, and it has considerably harmful effects on the environment and human health. Although many different factors play important roles for the air pollution in Kutahya city center, the main factor is burning fossil fuels and meteorological conditions effects on pollution dispersion.Using hot water supplied by burning solid and gas fuels for 365 days ? 24 hours in Kutahya makes the city come face to face with dense air pollution; consequently, this situation increases the emission values of Kutahya. So, it is important to use new and renewable energy sources, such as wind, geothermal, and solar energy, instead of using solid and liquid fuels for supplying hot water in the aim of reducing the usage of fossil fuels, hence, for solving the environmental problems, such as acid rains, global warming and green house effect caused by fossil fuels. In this study, the need of annual hot water of the city Kutahya is determined by using monthly temperature average data prepared by means of the measured temperature values between the years 1940?2002. Hence, the amount of green house gas emission caused by fossil fuels in Kutahya is calculated on the bases of different selected fossil sources. The main aim of this study is to reduce the greenhouse gas emission. For this purpose, required power capacity to get hot water has been calculated in the case of using different renewable energy sources. Finally, the average costs of energy generation have compared in each other for considered resources.
